It also exposes the cost and urgency of discipleship, contrasting worldly concerns with the call to follow Him fully.
Event Description
Coming down from the mountain, Jesus is approached by a man afflicted with leprosy, a condition that rendered him socially and religiously unclean. The leper’s worshipful plea acknowledges Jesus’ power: 'Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.' Jesus responds with tender authority, touching the outcast and declaring, 'I will; be thou clean.' Immediately, the leprosy departs. Jesus commands secrecy but instructs the man to present himself to the priest, fulfilling Mosaic law and offering a testimony to Israel.
